Welcome and Bienvenue

Sit back, grab a croissant or a baguette, and relax. You stopped by to visit France on Suite 101, the country you've always wanted to visit or miss dearly. If neither applies to you, maybe you just need to learn more, because whether you like the French or not, you've got to envy them for living in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Maybe we all should stop griping about the haughty French attitude. Let's face it: Many of us are just jealous. After all, the French have Paris, they've got the wine, they've got postcard-perfect idyllic country villages. They beat Brazil in soccer's World Cup. They are home to the glamour that is Cannes. They have some of the best beaches in the world. And let's not forget some of the most amazing palaces a king has ever dared to dream up. Heck, they've even got ruins from the Roman Empire strewn about.

In coming months, Suite 101 France will take you to all over the country and help you explore France the way any cyber-savvy armchair traveler would: right here. From the comfort of your own keyboard, we will point you to Websites where you'll brush up on or learn French, view collections of the best Parisian art museums, and discover some of the greatest little-known destinations France has to offer.

If you're planning to visit France, stop here first, because Suite 101 will be digging up money saving ideas that will help you make an adventure of your journey with opportunities to save on airfare, hotels, transportation, and all that touristy stuff. We'll also dig up the coolest cybercafés so you don't lose touch between wine-tastings.

Travel-challenged tourists, too, will find more of France to savor, too. Where on the Web do you find the best recipes for French cuisine? Who's putting the latest fresh from the runway collection online? Where can I chat with others about the new French films, politics, sports, news? Be patient, francophiles, it's all in the works. For now, though, we're going to tantalize you with some of the best Websites--all available in English--we've found to whet your appetite for Paris, city of love, which Suite 101 is now preparing as our first France Travel feature. Explore Monet, Manet, and Cezanne at the Musee D'Orsay (http://www.smartweb.fr/orsay/)or the Mona Lisa at the Louvre (Louvre: http://mistral.culture.fr/louvre/louvrea... Find out what classes are offered for you at the Sorbonne (http://www.cupa-paris.org/academic.html). Indulge yourself with a virtual tour of the Paris that Hemingway and Fitzgerald fell in love with during the Jazz Age (http://paris-anglo.com/zoom/). Navigate the Metro without paying 8 francs (http://www.smartweb.fr/guide/transports/... Just explore the links we've picked to get you started, and check back in a couple of weeks, when we'll give you more of the Paris you love to love.
