The next time your boss (or anyone else for that matter) asks you to explain elearning, I suggest that you visit the eLearning Jump Page at http://www.internettime.com/e.htm
Jay Cross of Internettime.com has created a cool Web page that provides basic knowledge about elearning, resources for keeping up-to-date with the elearning trend as well as ideas for implementing and measuring elearning. The eLearning Jump Page consists of an easy to use graphic or site map with links to key topics. One side of the map is devoted to elearning; the other side to its relationship with human performance. Click on a link and you will 'jump' to the topic associated with it. How to Use it Just starting out with elearning? Begin with the Core Knowledge section. Check out the FAQ, what is elearning and the glossary. Do you have basic knowledge about elearning and want information about the latest developments? Go to the Keeping Up Information section where you can find list of online magazines, newsletters, metasites and much more. Interested in implementing elearning in your organization? Click on the Implementation link and read about best practices, knowledge management, learning content management systems (LMCS) and standards among other things. Trying to figure how to measure elearning? Check out the information on metrics and ROI. There is so much information on this page, you should be prepared to scroll down through several screens. The page also includes a link to different categories of vendors that offer elearning solutions, learning management systems, virtual classroom tools and so on. Each section of the eLearning Jump page includes Jay Cross' commentary in the left and/or right hand columns. Many of his comments are informative; some are insightful and others are opinionated. Keep this in mind as you read the content. I've given you an overview of what you can find on the eLearning Jump Page. There's so much more to see and read. Jump to http://www.internettime.com/e.htm but don't lose track of time! Learning Blog Jay Cross has several Weblogs that he uses as learning tools. If you're not familiar with Weblogs or Blogs, think of a journal, diary or log of observations, thoughts, ideas and just about anything that comes out of a person's mind during a specific period of time. Blogs can be about any topic. In fact, Weblog communities have formed on the Internet. Read Jay's Blog on Learning and think about how you might use Blogs in your training activities to exchange knowledge. Go To Page: 1
