and then took command in the final straightaway. "My feelings were just like everyone else out there: I was nervous. You never know what race someone is going to run," he said. "I just wanted to run my race and make it to the next level - international - and I did."

Jamie Krzyminski from Michigan State came from behind to win the women's 5,000 meters in 17:23.51. Leslie Patterson of Wisconsin, led for most of the race. " "I ran as fast as I could. I knew she was there, I just wanted to pull out the win," Krzyminski said.

In the men's 10,000 meters Christopher Emme won in 31:46.10. Emme will be a freshman at Stanford in the fall. "It went the way I wanted it to. I didn't want to give too much, because I also want to get first or second tomorrow in the 5,000," he said. "It was a little windy, but it was a fun race."
