USATF CEO Craig Masback said the television rating for track and field have been up in the United States and he attributes that to the athletes who have been competing here. "Marion's agreement to concentrate on competing in the U.S., at least early in the season, … is an outstanding statement of support on her part for the sport," Masback said during the teleconference. "I think it says a lot about her. Without knowing specifically, I assume Marion has the opportunity to run at any meet in the world that she so chooses." The Outdoor Golden Spike Tour schedule is as follows: Princeton Invitational, May 12; the Oregon Track Classic in Portland, Ore., June 3; U.S. Open in Palo Alto, Calif., June 9; and the USA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 21-24. The Golden Spike Tour television schedule is as follows: Princeton Invitational, ESPN, June 3, 4:30 to 6 p.m.; Oregon Track Classic, ESPN2, June 10, 12:30 to 2 a.m.; U.S. Open, CBS, June 10, 5 to 6 p.m.; and the USA Outdoor Championships, CBS, June 24, 3 to 4 p.m.; and ESPN2, June 24, 5 to 7 p.m.
