Anthropology in the Arts (I of II)

Interested in this connection between the artistic and anthropological worlds, I decided to take a closer look at how their methods and meanings overlapped or straddled one another at the local level. What resulted from this brief period of scrutiny is a curated exhibit of twelve Minnesota artists whose work demonstrated a keen awareness of the interplay between art and life. While this exhibit will be discussed in more depth in the second half of this article, please feel free to take the Anthropology in the Arts Tour now and post your own observations in the discussion forum.

Part II of II will appear in the next issue of Topics in Anthropology. Stay Tuned.
