Marriage is Alive and Well© Mike Woods
This past weekend I had a memorable experience. My wife and I joined 8500 other couples in Washington, D.C. at the MCI Center for an event called "I Still Do". The focus of the day was marriage and how to make it better. 19,000 men and women filled the arena to the rafters. We enjoyed great music and great speakers.
We were reminded of how rally good marriage can be between two people who are focused on each other and their relationship. Alastair Begg reminded us of the covenant we enter into in marriage. Crawford and Karen Lorritts reminded us of our marital assignment. Gary Chapman taught us about the 5 languages of love. Steve Farrar delved into the wonderful intimacy of marriage. Dennis Rainey called us to renew our vows to each other. Perhaps the best part of a day like that is to be reminded that inspite of the spin we get from the media, marriage is alive and well. There are MANY men and women who care deeply about fully enjoying their marriage. Far from being a dinosaur, marriage is doing very well, thank you! I can't give a stonger recommendation to attend a marriage event. This one was produced by Family Life Today. Their website is Familylife.com. Check it out. The bottom line is this: Forget the not-so-subtle messages we recieve from our culture. Don't be persuaded that marriage is a dying institution. Quite the contrary, it is enjoying a marvelous resurgence! Go To Page: 1
