Marriage: Will the Idea Last?

© Mike Woods

If you believe everything you read these days, you'd be led to think that marriage is an endangered species. Given the divorce rates, it's understandable. Marriage has gotten a particularly bad rap. Many believe it prevents the people involved from growing, from realizing their full potential.

But there are those of us out there who have sailed the seas of marriage for a number of years and have found it to be much like an ocean voyage...beautiful and inspiring some days, while on others, you simply hold on for dear life.

Marriage is certainly an adventure. But one which is worth the trip. As surely as the ocean is deep and mysterious, so is the relationship between a man and a woman over many years. But one thing is sure: with all the joy and satisfaction it brings, marrage will surely endure.

The idea behind a weekly column like this is to look closely at what it takes to build a marital relationship that will go the distance. And not just an enduring relationship, but a deeply meaningful and satisfying relationship.

In the coming weeks let's look at what your calendar can do to help you grow in your marriage, how your dining habits can build up or tear down your marriage, and what your furniture is telling you about your relational habits.

So come back next week... let's build a great marriage!!!
