The Garth Newel Music Center is not named after a person, but is Welsh for "new hearth" or "new home," a name selected by former owners William Sergeant Kendall and Christine Herter Kendall. The Center was founded in 1973 by Christine Herter Kendall and musicians Luca and Arlene Di Cecco.

The Garth Newel Music Center, a non-profit musical organization, is located in scenic Bath County (www.bathcountyva.org), halfway between Warm Springs and Hot Springs, in western Virginia on U.S. 220. It is approximately 75 miles from Roanoke, Va.; 210 miles from Washington, D.C.; and 140 miles from Charleston, W.Va. For more information and to make reservations, visit www.garthnewel.org or call 1-877-558-1689.
