What I Watched This Week.....

November 8-November 14

A Charlie Brown Christmas I was feeling like starting the season a bit early and I love this classic animation creation of Charles Schulz. Who cannot have a tear in their eye when looking at Chuck's sad little tree?

Notting Hill (http://suite101.com/aritcle.cfm/3210/288...

Homegrown Billy Bob Thorton, Kelly Lynch and even Jon Bon Jovi star in this comedy based around the death of a "druglord" and greed. It didn't play out very fast, but Billy Bob is always a treat to watch.

Mulan I caught this Disney animated feature for about the sixth time. I do admit that the Donny Osmond song is my favorite part, though, see if you can spot it! This is right up there with Beauty and the Beast.

Message in a Bottle I like this movie more now on the fifth viewing than the first time I saw it in the theater. The ending frustrated me, but I got over it. I bought the soundtrack anyway. I have heard this book makes the movie seem really pathetic though, so I will surely read it eventually.

What Dreams May ComeI got the great privilege of taking in this movie again, sigh. Robin Williams, Annabella Sciorra and Cuba Gooding, Jr. star in this life story of one mans quest for his soulmate through trials of overwhelming proportions. This is my favorite movie of the decade. Thinking people really seemed to love this movie, but in the same note, some people really were confused by it. This was the first movie I called "Elvis" because people loved it or hated it. I saw it first in the theater and thought I would have to walk out because I was about to start sobbing uncontrollably. I have never cried so much in the theater or at a movie. Usually you can control or maintain a bit, but not with this one. Yes, even the hubby broke down at the funeral scene with Robin's eulogy. I wish everyone could get what I get out of this movie. It does so make me long for such a person in my life though and wonder if it is something that only exists in fiction to frustrate the rest of us. This movie won the Oscar last year for special effects. So if you don't "get it", then at least you'll enjoy looking at it!

Toy Story With the upcoming sequel in theaters this month I needed a refresher in Pixar technology. This movie is SO MUCH FUN! If you haven't seen it, you really should. I was in awe in the theater at the attention to detail in shading and wear on common items in the artwork. I will be watching the sequel this month on the big screen, as well.
