Celebrate God’s Creation Party

This theme was used for our Vacation Bible School this year and I thought it would make a great idea for a party. The scheme could be adapted for any age group. It would be a fun event for church, Sunday school and any family looking for a Christian theme.

Costumes could be simple biblical ones. Usually striped towels or pieces of fabric to drape are the easiest. You can halve a long, wide piece, and cut a round hole for the head. Tie with a leather shoelace or similar item. I've seen many headdresses that simply involved a short towel gathered at the back and kept in place by a band or tie on the forehead. Using a length of fabric and draping it from neck to under one arm creates a women's costume item to go over the main tunic. Keep them simple and colorful, but use muted colors for more authenticity.

The decorations will include all those things that god created including animals, birds, fish, plants, trees, flowers, moon, sun, stars, hills, valleys, mountains, brooks, even food etc. Make separate places for each type of setting, such as the forest, or the jungle, or a farm, or a mountain. If that idea doesn't appeal make your entire party setting a pleasing combination of color and a variety of all these items. For any party you may use balloons and streamers. You might want to keep colors green, yellow, and brown or other tones of nature. The choice is always up to you. Color is your tool for coordination so make sure you like what you use.

Food may be similar to any party or feature foods in their plainer, more natural stage like a Harvest Party. You might have bunches of fresh grapes, bananas or other fruit. Corn on the cob, fresh sliced tomatoes, Interesting breads, cold meats, and cheeses will be basic enough and help guests see just how much we have to be thankful for that God created. Herbal teas, milk, or juices might be the perfect drink when focusing on the natural bounty.

When decorating, create many pictures of stars that are part of the background for your party. The cut out and spray paint silver, lots of small stars. Hide these throughout your party area. For little children keep the locations pretty obvious, older kids and adults make the hiding places more challenging n. little children may gather these looking for a special one indicated by number or a graphic on the back of it. Whoever finds it gets a prize. For the older set, the challenge is in the finding the most or finding them at all.
