Party Favors That Fit The Theme

Every party is made better by having all the elements reflect the theme. This includes your invitations, costumes, decorations, activities, food, and favors. What are favors? They should be that little something your guest gets to take home with them to remember the great time they had at your theme party.

Matching the favor to the theme is not that hard if you spend some time thinking about it. If you have a lot of guests coming, you may want to shop well ahead for ideas, and the best bargains. Begin in dollar stores, drug stores, what used to be called notions in department stores, and toy stores. Anywhere inexpensive new items are sold.

Start with an idea and then embellish. A container to put candy in or small items might be a good place to start. Tiny boxes, little bottles or jars of plastic, miniature baskets, paper cups, saran wrap, tulle or other fabric may be useful.

Many times the favor is made up using candy, lollipops, or specific types of sweets that fit in perfectly with your theme. Traditional wedding candy such as Jordan almonds is a good example of the perfect favor filler for wedding guests. Maybe you are having a beach party- how about life savors. For the Explorer or the Little Gardener party, why not Gummi Worms?

Vehicles like MatchBox or Hot wheels are the perfect favor for a Race Car event, Aviator theme, or Tiny Tots Driving party. Fill a paper cup with candy, perch a vehicle on top, wrap with colored saran and tie with a ribbon.

For elegant parties use tulle to hold wrapped candies and tie with a fancy ribbon add a flower. I saw one where the tulle contained a heart shaped cookie cutter filled with candy and then wrapped. Why not borrow that idea and use animal cutters for the Noah party and then wrap in clear saran. You could use the same idea for a Jungle Theme or Barnyard party.

Under the sea party for kids might feature a bubbles favor and for adults, candy could be held in a seashell. Bells of all sorts could be formal favor starters for weddings, anniversaries, or School Days parties.

Add little flags for patriotic themes, waving from a mound of red, white, and blue candy stuffed in a paper cup with stars printed on it. Make miniature flags that look like checkered flags for racing or maybe school colored or college pennants. Construction paper, crepe paper, or fabric glued to wooden skewers cut in thirds is easy to do. This will be just the right accent for Nascar events or Back to School, and Graduation themes.
