How to Accomodate A CrowdWhen your Theme Party guest list is drawn up and you find you have more friends than room, what do you do? There are many ways of accommodating large crowds. Of course, you can rent a hall or a restaurant banquet facility to take care of those really large crowds. Fees vary and what is expected of you as the renter may also vary. We have seen places that require you to provide your own security for teen parties and some places expect the renters to do all the cleaning if they wish a deposit return. So check out all the details first before signing on the dotted line. In many areas, there are community centers or neighborhood facilities that can be used for a nominal fee or even free. You usually must sign up for these places in advance and also expect to have certain restrictions and obligations as to what your part is in cleaning, preparation, security, etc. There are rules concerning noise levels and curfews, which might effect your party, so make sure to check these items with your city officials. Don't forget about the possibility of scheduling an outdoor event. Using all your room and still not enough? Try moving the party to a park or entertainment facility with a picnic area. You once again will have some restrictions, but usually a local park only requires you to sign up for the use of pavilions. Sometimes, it is first come first served, and then you need to post someone under the pavilion early to stake out your claim. If you use your own home for an outdoor party, you may have a garage, barn, outbuilding, or porch at your disposal. Any deck or porch whose door leads to the house is a natural extension to your party room. Using a large rental tent or canopy will open up the whole outdoors for you. Maybe a friendly next door neighbor will let you extend your party area into their yard a bit. Do not take advantage, but ask if that seems a likely possibility and you are on very intimate terms. I recently went to a confirmation where the party was planned outside, but it rained, poured actually. We managed even though it was cramped. But a covered porch really made a lot of difference in where to go with so many people. If sitting is a problem, plan a party such as a cocktail party where people mainly stand. If you go this route, food must be simple and easy to eat. Finger foods are best. Remember chairs can sometimes be loaned from churches, or funeral homes, and of course they can be rented.
