Because Everyone's Irish On St. Patrick's Day!
It is time to celebrate the 'Wearin o' the green', so let's plan a party. With the selection of St. Patrick's Day items available, anyone can put together a terrific bash in no time. Ask guests to wear green or dress as leprachauns. Color scheme is ready made as we look at shades of green, with additions of white, black, gold, or orange like the national colors. String steamers in various ways and add balloons. Shamrocks everywhere will pronounce the theme and Leprechauns, Irish pipes and hat's, and gold at the end of a rainbow will make the party lucky for all who attend. Music is available for any atmosphere you wish to create in keeping with the Irish theme whether it be the Washerwoman's jig or the Irish Tenors singing Danny boy. The net is full of wonderful midi selections to keep you busy while planning this special event. You might plan a singalong of those old Irish favorites. Lots of foods can be turned green with food coloring or adding other foods (not from spoilage.) Breads for sandwiches, rice desserts, milkshakes, or ice cream can be colored. Use lime Jello, or lime Koolade to add to the color scheme. Serve traditional Irish foods like Irish stew which is usually lamb or beef and potatoes, carrots and cabbage in a rich broth. Or add O' Brien potatoes to another menu by cubing potatoes, onions, and green pepper and frying them till golden. Champ is something made by combining potatoes and cabbage and steaming them. Don't forget the Corned Beef and Cabbage and Green Beer. Play a trivia game based on St. Patrick's Day and Ireland. Use sites linked below to find out interesting facts and fun statistics about your theme. A game based on Kissing the Blarney stone could be lots of fun. Bring a very large stone from outside or recreate one with crumpled and spray- painted brown paper. Legend has it that those who kiss the stone can speak eloquently and convincingly to persuade others. Set up problems or concepts which are difficult to convince others about and then after each person kisses the stone, he must argue why his position is correct. Best one at convincing the others and persuading them to his way of thinking, wins. It could be why that person thinks he should be president of the United States or why he is best suited to win the lottery or why all the women at your party should give him a kiss. You come up with the situation and then each person that kisses the stone must try their powers of persuasion. Be creative, preposterous, or hilarious in your predicaments and arguments. For extra fun, make the Blarney stone something stupid to kiss like a stuffed green gorilla. Go To Page: 1 2
