A person may decide to use a caterer for much the same reasons as a party planner, indeed some caterers are also listed as party planners. The caterer provides your theme event with a degree of expertise you may not otherwise have available. It frees the host or hostess for more fun activities or necessary chores and jobs a person must engage in daily. It is a valuable solution when energy, time, and resources (special supplies) are scarce. The experts may have secret contacts to provide exactly what you want for that special party.
Caterers will search the globe or at least their secret sources to find the freshest seafood, the aged- just -right Cheddar, or the reddest strawberries available. No feat is beyond their abilities if you choose a caterer with a wonderful repertoire of recipes and a following that indicates they are the best. Your mission impossible will be looked upon as a challenge and not as an annoyance. If this reaction is not what you are getting, choose a different professional to cater your event.
The chef should be high quality and the food should look even better than it tastes. A caterer can add those little touches that are time-consuming, expensive, or difficult. For those of us that have barely mastered a radish rose, beautiful garnishes can be rather intimidating. Parsley may be great for the family dinner, but it does not always do the trick, something more is needed. A caterer is an expert in taking an ordinary dish and dressing it up. Not only will they garnish all that wonderfully cooked food, but they can also arrange and present it in ways that are outstanding, unusual, and interesting. The caterer will have a stock of serving pieces and table accessories on hand that will make every party a world class production.
Most of us are not ready to serve a 'flaming' anything or make an ice sculpture to look like an Egyptian pharaoh. We do not know what is involved in making croissants truly flaky, or a perfect soufflé' and even if we do, who has the time?
