So... The season's over and the awards have all been handed out. The pools have been paid out (who wins these things but the most cynical of us?). Though the arguments will go on until next season finds some more deserving parties egregiously overlooked, for now it's all over except the engraving. I don't know if anyone will ever be able to understand the group mind of the nominating and voting committees. People are glorified or overlooked right and left for no apparent reason or point. I'll have to leave the speculation as to the meaning of all of this to better qualified parties. In the end we find, I believe, that the awards are no more than a celebration of the current state of the theatre. And what's wrong with that? The awards charts have been updated to reflect this weekend's Tony Awards. And below you'll find a new chart showing the total number of awards given to each show. Click here for Part I.
Totals? You want totals!? I gatcha totals right heah. Here's an amazingly colorful chart, with amazingly little point. Who knows what it could mean, but here are the total numbers of awards given to each show nominated in all of the five larger award ceremonies. Only winners are shown and I make no promises about the accuracy of the thing.
