President George W. Bush
@ The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. President:

Here's a howdy from your native state. Hope that you, Laura, and the kids are doing well these days. I know it's hard for you as a father to be forced to see your twin daughters be subject to intense press scrutiny like they have been over things dealing with stuff that some might consider the mistakes of youth such as a number of college students do (which I've seen firsthand the effects of it for myself--since I have, in a way, also once been a college student myself). But of course, I guess that you've got bigger fish to fry these days anyway.

I also hope that you've been treating Jeb really good these days as a result of the strings he might have pulled for you. It seems that Florida did us all a favor when they cast the votes necessary that eventually led to the Supreme Court decision that made you the head honcho of this country instead of simply the governor of our home state.

A sidebar question here at this point--did your current strategy in fighting terrorism and the Taliban come right out of a Tom Clancy novel (say, somewhere along the lines of Executive Orders, maybe?)? Whether or not it basically did, I can probably say this--Jack Ryan might seem to look like a wimp compared to the way you've composed and handled yourself those days. And it probably has a really major important side benefit for you right now. Remember the days down here when your efforts at "bipartisanship" meant dealing with Pete Laney and Bob Bullock? Well, I guess that past experience in this is really paying dividends for you now. I've hardly heard much of a negative peep from the Dems on Capitol Hill these days since the attacks. I guess with Daschle distracted himself with an anthrax scare in his own midst and almost everyone else in the world now scared out of their wits---it's kind of hard to work up the energy to turn their political sights on you right in the midst of what is for all practical purposes a war and embarrass you in front of the rest of the world in the process. I guess that on-the-job training in that area in the past prepared you well for what you're going through right now--and the world now has no doubt about what all of us back home have known about you for years.
