TALES FROM THE WEST TEXAS DUST

LONE STAR ROAD REPORT--HALLELUJAH FROM TULIA!!

My apologies to my readers for the tardiness of this report--but this rare instance has occurred for several reasons:

(1.) It's been a crazy, busy couple of weeks that have not necessarily gone the way I would have preferred...

(2.) We are still working on several other stories for future editions of the Suite and hope to give them to you as soon as we are able.

and (3.) This gives me a rare chance to justify more of my own personal travel expenses on a couple of trips I'm taking throughout this month--LIVE, IN PERSON, AND ON SCENE! Therefore--the Suite IS ON THE ROAD AGAIN FOR THIS WEEK AND NEXT to continue, in essence, a little travelogue of what this state has to offer (Besides, I'm desperate for time and topics AND I HAVE TO GET SOMETHING IN HERE FOR TODAY ANYWAY!)

----------------------------------------------------------

Well, why was I in Tulia in the first place, you ask? It was because it was one of the places that I was going to assist the Prison Ministry Team for the Franklin Graham Festival. It was a very tiring day and night that actually started at 8 AM Thursday morning when I had to try to wrap things up at two of my part-time jobs for the week. Needless to say, those efforts weren't easy. As a result, I didn't get through with ANY of it until 12:30 AM FRIDAY morning. All of this gave me when I got home exactly ONE hour of rest (note--REST time, NOT sleep) before I had to get ready again to catch a 5:15 AM northbound bus to Tulia on the way eventually to Amarillo where I would be staying for the night.

When I hit Tulia around 6 AM Friday, I had to find various ways to kill about 12 hours of time before I had to go to the Unit several miles away from town and a mile from the truck stop that also serves as Tulia's bus station. (More on that later...) There were a couple of folks that I hoped I might be able to stop in and see while I was in town for the fun of it plus an opportunity to eat a very long, leisurely breakfast. So maybe it might kill a few hours of time...better than sitting at a truck stop all day. [Besides, sometimes a man like me just likes to get out and about and see what's there...]
