TALES FROM THE WEST TEXAS DUST
AMARILLO (SPECIAL)--As promised from last week, we continue our coverage with some highlights of the speakers present at Worldview Weekend: ------------------------------------------------------------ Suite 101: I was curious about the findings you've had, first of all, on finding Mount Sinai and also the Ark of the Covenant--what importance do you think these things in general have on all of us? Bob Cornuke: Mt. Sinai--the Bible says that there has never been anything like that in the history of mankind. Deuteronomy says that [prior] to creation nothing like this has happened to where God has come out of fire, revealed Himself to man, performed miracles like that. And this is one of the watershed events in our history because God stepped forth, showed all of these miracles, and the Bible says in Deuteronomy so that "...you will know that God is Lord." And so finding evidence at Mt. Sinai transcends it from a mythological event, which a lot of people feel, to a historical event. It goes from legend into reality--and finding this evidence...helps substantiate and verifying [our] faith. 101: What impact do you think all of this will have on scholarship in general--especially in terms of Biblical studies...? Cornuke: Scholars aren't interested so much in finding evidence to help them make a decision--but they're looking for people to justify and verify their current opinions. It is a hard job to change scholarship's opinion and the trajectory they have because it has a lot of momentum because of people thinking the same thing for so long. So when you propose something that's new like I do at Mount Sinai or the Ark of Noah or the Ark of the Covenant, you proposing these new theories--it causes quite a disruption in traditional scholastic viewpoints. 101: But what relevance would you think this will have to the general public? How would it relate to not just Christians, but anyone across the board? Cornuke: We're all after truth--we're all desirous to find out the realities of truth. This evidence could be encouraging for those that are doubting whether there even is a God--it gives them hope; it gives them encouragement that this book called the Bible is historically true. And if the Bible is true, then there's tremendous implications for us for eternity and on how we live our lives on earth. ---------------------------------------- Is the real Noah's Ark situated on Mount Ararat in Turkey as orthodox Christianity has claimed for centuries? Possibly not, answers adventurer and former police investigator Bob Cornuke. In fact, it may be sitting in an area that you might least expect--and Cornuke thinks that with time, he may be able to provide conclusive evidence of its real location.
