TALES FROM THE WEST TEXAS DUST

[AND SPECIAL FEBRUARY RODEO FORUM GUEST ARTICLE]

"COWBOYS, JUDAISM, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT..." ARTICLE SERIES:

COY'S LONE STAR WEB GUIDE TO THE COWBOY CHURCH

First of all, to those reading us for the first time because they are regular readers of Rodeo Contributing Editor Florence Cardinal's monthly column--we at the Suite officially regret to inform you that Mrs. Cardinal is currently indisposed and away from this column for this month of February due to unforeseen personal circumstances. Mrs. Cardinal, though, should be back in her regular time slot as soon as she is able. In the meantime, rodeo fans--I'm your substitute Rodeo CE (so to speak) for this month (who in reality is serving as the CE for Texas Culture and Politics) who hopes to make your regular editor proud--and ya'll as well. We humbly welcome you to our part of the homestead that is the Suite.

For those that are regular readers of the Texas Culture/Politics forum, please bear with our re-emphasis this week on the cowboy church. We hope to get back to other topics as soon as we are able. But for this week's (or this month's edition--whatever the case may be for you personally)--I think that I actually have the perfect thing to suit both audiences.

You see, when our Managing Editor for Sports approached me to do this guest article to help him out of a jam, it just so happened that I was also working on something of a related vein dealing with the state of the "cowboy church" here in Texas. Looking for a unique and creative way to write something different that would fit in with both places, I thought that a little bit of a detailed Web guide on this subject might do the trick. We hope that you will also feel the same way after this is done.

These days, it seems that the sport of rodeo has actually included in recent years a number of prominent people who have excelled in their sport--then have later felt compelled to exercise their Christian faith through ministering to those of a similiar brand (please pardon the pun). Also, it seems that of all people, ministries that deal with the needs of the cowboy have been increasingly relying on the Net in order to get their message and the Gospel out.

Knowing that there may be a number of rodeo fans that might be looking for ways that their faith can be properly expressed on the Web, I thought that we might want to take a quick look at some of the sites that I found in Yahoo (THE OFFICIAL SEARCH ENGINE of the Texas Culture/Politics forum) that might be useful to you. [Note: As always comes the typical disclaimer in which we here in the management do not necessarily vouch or recommend every site that is presented here--it will ultimately, of course, be up to you to determine their individual value for yourself. This is also NOWHERE near a comprehensive listing of ocwboy church ministries--but only a representative sample of what we were able to find at the spur of the moment.]
