TALES...SPECIAL FESTIVAL ESSAY

back at these pictures in my photo album and think about the memories in my head about this first Feast and compare them to what I'm going through now. I think of the times that in spite of horrific problems and difficulties how my God has been extremely merciful and gracious to me, even at times when I did not deserve it. I think of the people in my church (both in the past and also in the present) that have not hesitated one bit in being there in the absolute worst times and storms of my life--especially during all the Feasts that I have attended since.

And in all of this, I can only think of one thing overall that one contemporary Christian artist sang in a song (my apologies for what might be inaccuracies in the exact lyrics--what I am about to say is simply a paraphrase of what the chorus talked about) something along the lines of thinking about the things God has given to me and the things that He has brought me through. In that song, though, is a very important thought about how we need to thank Him--for "...He's been doubly good to you."

It makes me think about what Bible teacher Joyce Meyer once said about how when our Adversary comes against us and causes us trouble, he is required (in essence) to give what she says is "...double honor, double for your trouble, a two-fold recompense for what the enemy has stolen from you." It seems that the prophet Isaiah said it best when he prophesied about the future of the children of Israel: "...Instead of their shame my people wil receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs." (Isaiah 61:7, NIV)

Recently I attended a Friday night service at one of the churches here where I live just to see what was going on over there since I had never been there. That night just happened to be the last service of a revival by a prophetic minister (not one who deals with the end-time prophecies, I mean--but instead someone who possesses the gift of revelation into the lives of others and what things might hold in the future) of the Gospel out of Phoenix, AZ. I was just there being polite
