Elementary Structure Practice


In these articles I have concentrated more on advanced learners or ESP. To help rectify that, I am including a list of 60 questions for elementary level.

They are intended to help your students practise the language of daily life using some of the basic verb structures they will have learnt.

  1. What do you do when you're happy?
  2. What do you do when you're tired?
  3. What do you do when you're sad?
  4. What do you cook for a special occasion?
  5. What do you wear for a party?
  6. How often do you watch television?
  7. How often do you go to the cinema?
  8. When do you drink wine?
  9. What do you do when you're angry?
  10. What sports do you play?
  11. How often to you take exercise?
  12. What do you do when you have a cold?
  13. How often do you fly?
  14. How often do you travel by train?
  15. How often do you change your car?

    Make questions to ask for the following information:

  16. You want to know someone's name.
  17. You want to know someone's address.
  18. You want to know someone's age.
  19. You want to know if someone is married.
  20. You want to know if someone has any children.
  21. You want to know about someone's job.
  22. You want to know about someone's hobbies.
  23. You want to know about someone's car.
  24. You want to know where someone goes on holiday.
  25. You want to know what someone has for breakfast.

    What do you think these people are doing now?,

  26. Your best friend.
  27. Your teacher.
  28. Your mother or your father.
  29. The prime minister or president of your country.
  30. Your favourite t.v. star.

    Imagine you are in the centre of your town :

  31. Where is the tourist office?
  32. Where is the railway station?
  33. Where is the nearest bank?
  34. Where is the Post Office?
  35. Where is the central car park?
  36. Can you tell me the way to the park?
  37. I'm looking for a central hotel.
  38. Where is the cinema?
  39. How far is it to the bus station?
  40. Where can I get a taxi?

    The Past:

  41. What did you do at the weekend?
  42. Where did you first go to school?
  43. How did you celebrate your birthday?
  44. What did you eat for your breakfast?
  45. When did you last go to the cinema?
  46. What film did you see the last time you went to the cinema?
  47. Who did you speak to this morning?
  48. What time did you go to bed last night?
  49. Where did you live as a child?
