sitcom was reborn. The winning formula paved the way for a Thursday night schedule that would include Family Ties, Cheers (which suddenly began to attract viewers despite its 1982 premiere finishing a few notches away from last place) and Night Court. Tartikoff also signed the 10 p.m. hit 'L.A. Law.'

with Kelsey Grammer, Bill Cosby, Tom Brokaw and Jerry Seinfeld.
