Looking for some last minute holiday gift ideas? The digital revolution has brought a plethora of television programs, past and present, to DVD. In addition to containing entire episodes, and often times entire seasons, most of these DVDs also contain a variety of features for hardcore fans. These features often include behind-the-scenes documentaries, interviews with cast and crew, still production photos and promotional trailers.

"24" (FOX, 2001) Series star Kiefer Sutherland narrates the introduction to season one of this critically acclaimed series. Each episode is told in real time and takes place during the day of the California presidential primary. "The Civil War: A film by Ken Burns" (PBS, 1992) Considered by many critics to be the best documentary series ever produced for television, this series garnered the highest ratings in PBS history when it was first broadcast in 1992. This special DVD package contains 75 minutes of footage not shown in the original series, including expanded interviews, battlefield maps and biographies of the major personalities involved in the war. "Jazz: A film by Ken Burns" (PBS, 2001) This DVD set contains all ten episodes of the epic documentary series about one of the true original American art forms. Produced for PBS by Ken Burns ("The Civil War"), the series contains rare performances, stills and interviews with former and current Jazz greats. It is a must have for any serious Jazz lover. "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (BBC, PBS, 1990s) Most Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts consider this British series to be the definitive adaptation of the classic detective created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The late Jeremy Brett starred as Sherlock Holmes. David Burke starred as his loyal friend and companion Dr. Watson. This set of 13 episodes of the Granada Television series contains a photo gallery, actor bios and a listing of societies devoted to Sherlock Holmes and Jeremy Brett.
