Holiday programs on video: Looking for that perfect stocking stuffer for the holidays? Many of the classic holiday programs that we grew with as kids are now available on home video. This includes the Rankin/Bass production "Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer" and the animated "Frosty the Snowman" narrated by Jimmy Durante. For an in-depth look at these and other holiday programs available on home video, please see one of my earlier articles for the Suite at http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/851/... I'm pleased to say that this article is also currently featured in the current issue of "The Parent Guide: Tampa Bay's Only Directory For The Whole Family."

Web site of the week: Speaking of Rankin/Bass, our web site of the week will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about "Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and a host of other classic animated programs. It is put together by Rick Goldschmidt and Mark Sykora, authors of "The Enchanted World of Rankin/Bass: A Portfolio," which can be ordered from their web site. For more information please see http://www.rankinbass.com/

This week in television history: "Batman: The Animated Series" debuts in prime time on December 13, 1992 on the Fox Television Network. Produced by director Tim Burton, director of the highly successful "Batman" films of the 80's, this series presented a more somber caped crusader than previous versions shown on television.

The vocal cast included such television veterans as Melissa Gilbert ("Little House on the Prarie") as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl and Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. (The F.B.I.") as Alfred, Bruce Wayne's loyal butler. Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars") was the voice of the Joker. For more information please see http://www.batmantas.com.

Final thoughts: Do you have a television related web site that you'd like me to review? Do you have a television trivia question that you'd like me to answer? If so, please drop me a line at Ckingston@aol.com. I'd love to hear from you. Until next time, happy viewing!
