The Outsider Comes to Showtime

hosted a horror/anthology series on television.

"Darkroom" debuted on November 27, 1981 on the ABC television network. Much like Rod Serling's "Night Gallery," the series featured various guest stars every week in stories of terror and suspense stories.

Despite being one of the better attempts at this genre, the series never developed a large following. Coburn did an excellent job as host, however. The series had its final prime time airing on July 8, 1982. For more information on this series please see http://www.innermind.com/myguides/guides...

This week in television history: Before he gained international fame playing Peter Parker/Spiderman, Tobey Maguire starred in a short-lived comedy series for FOX called "Great Scott!"

Maguire played Scott Melroad, a 15-year old freshman at Taft High School. Melroad was not very popular in high school and spent much of his time day dreaming. Viewers saw the character's day dreams and they were always more interesting than everyday life. The series never caught on with viewers though and was cancelled on November 29, 1992.

I could not find a decent web site about "Great Scott!" web site on the net. However, there is a link is to an interview Maguire did that covers a lot of his career, including "Great Scott!" For more info please go to http://www.usaweekend.com/02_issues/0204...

Final thoughts: Do you have a television related web site that you'd like me to review? Do you have a television trivia question that you'd like me to answer? If so, please drop me a line at CKingston@aol.com. I'd love to hear from you. Until next time, happy viewing!
