This week we finish our look at the new shows on the six broadcast networks for the upcoming fall season. We also review a new science fiction series on Showtime and spotlight our website of the week and this week in television history.
"Abby" - This comedy series, scheduled for midseason, is about an ambitious young television producer. "Half and Half" - Two women with very different backgrounds move next door to each other and discover they are half-sisters. "Haunted" - After a near-death experience, a private eye starts receiving help on his cases from spirits from beyond the grave. "The Twilight Zone" - Forest Whitaker assumes the role of host in yet another remake of the classic Rod Serling series. New shows for The WB: "Birds of Prey" - Based on the DC Comic book, this is a variation on the "Batman" legend. It finds Batgirl paralyzed and assuming a new identity as Oracle. She assists two other superheroines, one of which is the illegitimate daughter of Batman and Catwoman. "Do Over" - This half-hour comedy is about a 34-year-old man who gets the chance to return to his freshman year in high school and live life over again. "Everwood" - The WB hopes that it has finally found a show to follow their popular family drama "7th Heaven." Treat Williams plays a high-powered New York City surgeon who moves his children to a small town in Colorado after his wife dies. "Family Affair" - The WB updates the classic family series from the 60s. Tim Curry plays Mr. French and Gary Cole plays Uncle Bill. "Greetings From Tuscon" - This half-hour comedy examines the trials and tribulations of growing up in an ethnically mixed family. "The O'Keefes" - A family that has home-schooled their children desides it might be a good idea to send them to public school for a while. "What I Like About You" - A 16-year-old girl is sent to live with her older sister in New York when dad takes a job in Japan. Odyssey 5 Debuts on Showtime: The Showtime cable network is offering a free preview of their programming during the weekend of June 22nd. This is the perfect time to check out their new science fiction series, ODYSSEY 5. I've seen a preview of the series and have a review: Odyssey 5 Director: David Carson.
