Some Old Friends Are Back On Top Of The Ratings

The series has elements of classic spy series such as "The Prisoner," "I Spy" and "The Avengers." Garner's character is not quite up to the standards of Mrs. Peel, but who is? "Alias" airs on the ABC network on Sunday evenings at 9 p.m. (PST). For more information, go to the ABC website at http://www.abc.go.com/primetime/alias/

Baseball ratings strike out: Baseball can no longer be called the nations' past time. The ratings for the decisive game 5 of the American League Divisional Series between the New York Yankees and the Oakland A's were lower than that of the dreadful "Monday Night Football" match-up between the then 0-4 Dallas Cowboys and the 0-4 Washington Redskins.

For die-hard fans like me, however, nothing comes close to the grandeur of baseball in October. For more information on the League Championship series games between the New York Yankees vs. the Seattle Mariners and The Arizona Diamondbacks vs. The Atlanta Braves go to http://www.foxsports.com.

This week in television history: October 20, 173 saw the debut of "The Six Million Dollar Man" on ABC. The series was based on the novel "Cyborg" and starred Lee Majors as Col. Steve Austin, a former astronaut fitted with bionic limbs after he nearly died in a rocket crash.

The series originally was part of "The ABC Suspense Movie" airing once a month. It became a weekly series in 1974. It spawned "The Bionic Woman" and several TV-movie sequels. For more information on the series check out this British website at http://www.sixmilliondollarsite.co.uk/. It includes news updates on possible movie remakes.

Enter my television trivia contest: There is still time to enter my television trivia contest about the FOX comedy series "The Simpsons." For more information go to http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/851/... The prize is a copy of "My Life As A 10-Year-Old Boy" by Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson herself.

Website of the week: Not many television series can boast two Oscar winners in their cast. One exception is "The Education of Max Bickford" on CBS. For more information check out http://www.cbs.com/primetime/education_o...

Final thoughts: Do you have a television related website that you'd like me to review? Do you have a television trivia question that you'd like me to answer? If so, drop me a line at F_Colin_Kingston@suite101.com. Until next week, happy viewing!
