Who's the boss on Miss America? Tony Danza: Former "Taxi" and "Whose the Boss?" star Tony Danza has been chosen to host the upcoming Miss America Pagent. Danza replaces last year's hosts Donny and Marie Osmond. The series has suffered a ratings decline in recent years and producers are planning other changes in the show as well including adopting some elements from the popular "Survivor" series. Too bad the producers gave former host Bert Parks the boot. Ratings, and the show, haven't been the same since.

This week in television history: August 31, 1976 marked the premiere of ALICE on the CBS Television Network. Based on the hit film "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," the story centered on a single mom trying to make ends meet while raising a young son. She ends up working in a diner in Arizona populated with an interesting assortment of co-workers and customers. Linda Lavin starred in the title role of Alice. Vic Taybeck played Mel, owner of the diner and Philip McKeon played Tommy, Alice's young son. The show was a hit in the CBS Sunday night lineup. It aired its final episode on July 2, 1985. Website of the week: One of the few hit shows to debut last season was "C.S.I." (Crime Scene Investigators). I have to admit that I gave the series a poor review upon its debut. That was based on the fact that the series is very unrealistic in its portrayal of Crime Scene Investigators. There is no denying that the show is enjoyable to watch, however. I guess that counts more than being realistic in the television world. For more information on "C.S.I." check out this weeks' website of the week, "Elyse's CSI Page" at http://members.aol.com/JRD203/csi.htm.

Final thoughts: Do you have a television related website that you would like me to review? Perhaps you have a television trivia question that you would like me to answer. If so, drop me a line at F_Colin_Kingston@suite101.com. Until next week, happy viewing!
