"Will and Grace" co-star Sean Hayes has been heralded for his work in aiding a real-life crime victim. Hayes came to the aid of Courtney Cunningham, 33, after he had shot and robbed near his home.

Police reported that Hayes literally ripped off his shirt to stuff against Cunningham's bullet wound, called police from his cell phone and stayed with the victim until help arrived. In this day and age of bad-boy type Hollywood stories, it is refreshing to read a positive story about a Hollywood star.

Hayes is nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role of Jack, Will's very flamboyant gay friend on the NBC hit comedy "Will and Grace." The Emmys will be presented in September.

"Inspector Morse" returns to work: Noted British actor John Thaw is responding well to cancer treatment and is anxious to get back to work. Best known for his work on television as the gruff "Inspector Morse," Thaw has been undergoing treatment for cancer of the esophagus. Thaw, 59, is set to appear in a new British soap opera entitled, "Bedtime" that begins this fall on the BBC.

The Stargate is open again: Fans of "Stargate" can rejoice. The Sci-Fi Channel has picked up the popular science fiction series after it was cancelled by Showtime. Richard Dean Anderson and company will return for a 5th season in the fall. Sci-Fi will also begin airing the first four seasons of the series later in the year.

Super Bowl means super ad rates: Football may still only be in pre-season, but the FOX Network is already aggressively trying to sell advertising for the Super Bowl. FOX, which this year broadcasts what is traditionally the most-watched show of the season, is asking a record $2.5 million for a 30-second spot. So far, there aren't many takers.

Summer ratings continue to cool off: The dog days of summer are leading to some dog days for the broadcast networks too. Here are the ratings for the top ten programs for the week ending August 12th according to Nielsen Media Research. Few actual scripted programs are among the top ten.
