This week we conclude our look at the new fall programs on the major broadcast networks by looking at shows on UPN and the WB.
Two new shows on UPN this fall are actually shows that first aired on the WB. After a nasty bidding war, UPN won the bidding rights for BUFFY: THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. ROSWELL, a second year series cancelled by the WB this fall, also moves over to UPN. It will be interesting to see if the audience for both of those shows follow suit. Here are the new shows on UPN this fall: For more information, check out the UPN website at http://www.upn.com. ENTERPRISE - Does the world need yet another STAR TREK series? UPN and Paramount think so. ENTERPRISE stars former QUANTUM LEAP star Scott Bakula in a series that is set about 150 years from today and about 150 years prior to the glory years of Captain Kirk. The producers promise this series will be, "like no other STAR TREK series we've seen before." Ironically, they made that same promise about VOYAGER and, at least as far as this STAR TREK fan is concerned, that was the weakest of all the STAR TREK shows. Here's hoping the series lives up to the billing and "goes where now STAR TREK show has gone before." ONE ON ONE - This series follows the lives of Kyla, a fifteen-year-old high school freshman, and her sportswriter father. The series promises to explore the dilemmas of a single father trying to raise an energetic young daughter. The series stars Kyla Pratt and Flex Alexander. SPECIAL UNIT 2 - This series is a combination of THE UNTOUCHABLES meets THE X-FILES. SPECIAL UNIT 2 follows the adventures of an elite crime fighting unit in the Chicago Police Force that investigates the paranormal, gargoyles, werewolves and the missing link between man and beast. The cast includes Michael Landes, Alexondra Lee, Richard Grant and Danny Woodburn. Here are the new shows coming to the WB this fall. DEAD LAST - This dramatic series focuses on a struggling rock band that discovers a mysterious amulet that lets them be in contact with the dead. Soon the band finds itself helping the newly departed spirits solve various dilemmas before they can move on in the next world. The series stars Tyler Labine, Kett Turton, Sara Downing and Wayne Pere. ELIMIDATE DELUXE - This "reality series" lets one man or woman each week go on dates with four various suitors to various exotic locations such as Paris or New York City. The press information doesn't specify how, but each contestant is supposed to go out with all four candidates at once thus speeding up the time it takes to find Mr. or Ms. right. Eventually, only one of the four candidates will be left.
