This week we continue our look at summer reading recommendations with reviews of books about two of the most famous personalities in television history - Bart Simpson and Jack Benny. First, the more "animated" of the two.

"My Life As A Ten Year Old Boy" by Nancy Cartright Published by: http://www.hyperionbay.com Cost: $19.95

THE SIMPSONS have, without a doubt, become the most popular and longest running animated series in the history of prime time television.

The beauty of animation is that the characters never have to age. One of the most popular characters in the series, indeed in all of television, is ten-year-old Bart Simpson. It might surprise viewers, however, to learn that the voice of Bart Simpson is actually done by a woman.

Author and vocal artist Nancy Cartright takes fans of "The Simpsons" on a behind-the-scenes journey into the making of one of America's most popular television series. The books is packed with amusing anecdotes, comments from other cast members and some great personal photos.

In addition to supplying the voice of Bart, Ms. Cartright does many other voices on the show as well. They include: Nelson Muntz (the bully), Ralph Wiggum, Bart's good friend, Todd Flanders, one of the Christian neighbors who live next door, and Database, one of the resident computer nerds.

Cartright has done an excellent job of capturing the flavor of what goes on during the making of a typical episode. She also shares stories about some of the famous guest stars that have appeared on the show including Mel Gibson, Michael Jackson, and Elizabeth Taylor.

Blessed with a superb writing staff and vocal talent, THE SIMPSONS is that rare television series that appeals to viewers of all levels. Children can enjoy the animated antics of Homer and company and adults can enjoy the social commentary.

If you a fan of THE SIMPSONS chances are great that you will also enjoy this book. It is well worth making part of your summer reading.
