TV Isn't All Repeats This WeekThis Week in T.V. History: THE GERTRUDE BERG SHOW ends its run on CBS on April 5, 1962. The series starred Sarah Green as Gertrude Berg, an elderly widow who enrolls into college. The character originally became famous on an old time radio series called THE GOLDBERGS. Marion Ross (who would go on to play Mrs. Cunningham in the classic 70s series HAPPY DAYS) played daughter Susan Green. The series originally debuted on October 4, 1961. Here are my television viewing recommendations for the week beginning April 5th: Monday, April 5th DILBERT, UPN, 8:00 - 8:30 p.m., PST Dilbert tries to find out who has been using his computer at work to visit pornographic web sites. AIR BUD, The Disney Channel, 9:10 - 10:50 p.m., PST Kevin Zegers stars in this heartwarming tale about a lonely and fatherless boy who is befriended by a basketball shooting dog. Tuesday, April 6th W.C. FIELDS STRAIGHT UP, American Movie Classics, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m., PST This program profiles legendary comedian W.C. Fields. NYPD BLUE, ABC, 10:00 - 11:00 p.m., PST The series returns with new episodes which feature a compelling story arc about racism in the department. Wednesday, April 7th TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, PAX-TV, 8:00 - 9:00 p.m., PST Rita Moreno, Carol Burnett and Carol Channing guest star in this syndicated repeat of the popular program. LAW AND ORDER, NBC, 10:00 - 11:00 p.m., PST Two bounty hunters are continually one step ahead of the cops. Thursday, April 8th Brady Bunch, Nick-at-Nite, 9:00 - 9:30 p.m., PST This endearing episode is the one in which Marcia gets braces. JAY LENO, NBC, 11:35 - 12:35 p.m., PST The lovely Terri Hatch (aka Lois Lane herself) pays a visit. Friday, April 9th NBA Basketball, Turner Network Television, 7:30 - 10:00 p.m., PST The Los Angeles Lakers vs. The Minnesota Timberwolves. Trivia fans will note that the Lakers came to Los Angeles from Minnesota and the land of 10,000 lakes, hence their name ³the Lakers.² NASH BRIDGES, CBS, 10:00 - 11:00 p.m., PST Nash tries to find evidence that will clear an innocent man scheduled to be executed.
