Election Coverage Dominates The Upcoming Week

© F. Colin Kingston

With the presidential election just around the corner, television will be inundated with election commercials and expanded news coverage. Come election day (November 2nd) the news media will be out in force covering political rallies, polling places and news conferences.

Look for lots of exit polls too as the television news networks try to do what they failed to do in the 2000 election, call the presidential race correctly.

Let us hope that the networks wait until the polls are closed in all 50 states before they call the presidential election. I also hope that the voting process goes smoothly, though I'm beginning to have my doubts that it will. Each state has their own particular rules when it comes to the election process so there are bound to be problems. If the race is as close as the pundits predict, we could be in for another long court fight. This time, however, it may include the voting process in more states than just Florida.

If you are a political junkie like myself, you will be up until the wee hours of the morning watching election night coverage. Here, in no particular order, is a listing of some of the news networks and news programs to keep you company as you channel surf throughout the night:

Final thoughts: Do you have a television related Web site that you'd like me to review? Do you have a television trivia question that you'd like to ask? If so, I'd reallckingston hear from you. Please drop me a line at ckingston@aol.com Until next week, happy viewing!
