James Doohan Tribute Scheduled for August: Friends, fans and co-stars of James Doohan will be gathering in August to pay tribute to the veteran actor. Sadly, the beloved actor, best known for his role as Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott on the original "Star Trek" series, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He is suffering from other diseases as well, including Parkinson's and Diabetes. This will be Doohan's final convention appearance, and quite possibly his final public appearance as well.

All the remaining members of the original "Star Trek" cast are coming together to pay tribute to the venerable actor. Doohan, 84, served in the Canadian military in World War II and was injured during the D-Day invasion. For more information on the Doohan tribute, and to find out how you can purchase tickets, please visit http://www.planetxpo.com/doohan/

I've had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Doohan in person and he is a delight. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Doohan and his family. This public tribute is well deserved and long overdue.
