Alias Does Battle with 24 and Prime SuspectThis week in TV history: "Real People" premiered on the NBC television network on April 18, 1979. This series was a cross between "60 Minutes" and the reality television shows of today. Produced by George Schlatter (the creator of "Laugh In") "Real People" had a live audience. Each week various hosts would introduce profiles of off-beat people, usually doing off-beat things. Hosts often went into the field to do the stories and then would introduce them and talk about them with the audience. Some of the hosts on "Real People" included John Barbour, Mark Russell, Sarah Purcell and Bryon Allen. The series went off the air on July 4, 1984.
