Here are my television viewing recommendations for the week
Tuesday, September 8th ROGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN: THE SOUND OF AMERICAN MUSIC, American Movie Classics, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., PST AMC takes a look at one of the most prolific composing duos in the history of American music. Some of their compositions include THE SOUND OF MUSIC, OKLAHOMA and THE KING AND I. CIVIL WAR JOURNAL, The History Channel, 8:00 - 9:00 p.m., PST This long-running historical look at America1s greatest internal conflict examines the defeat of the Union army at the Battle of Fredericksburg. BIOGRAPHY, Arts and Entertainment, 9:00 - 10:00 p.m., PST A&E1s Biography series takes a look at one of the richest and most powerful men in Hollywood - Merv Griffin. MAXIMUM BOB, ABC, 10:00 - 11:00 p.m., PST The quirky drama/comedy series features a story in which the judge must decide what to do when the execution of a convict is bungled and the prisoner survives. Wednesday, September 9th PRIME TIME LIVE, ABC, 10:00 - 11:00 p.m., PST After nine years PRIME TIME LIVE will have its final broadcast. The series isn1t being canceled though. It is merging with ABC1s other newsmagazine 20/20. CHICAGO HOPE, CBS, 10:00 - 11:00 p.m., PST This imaginative episode of the series features guest star Tippi Hedren in a tribute to the masterful director Alfred Hitchcock. The episode plays on several of his classic films. LAW AND ORDER, NBC, 10:00 - 11:00 p.m., PST The standout NBC drama series tackles a serious subject - the search for a pedophile who has left has 10-year old victim in a coma. Thursday, September 10th SEINFELD, NBC, 8:00 - 9:30 p.m., PST The comedy series airs its last episode on network tv. (It will live forever in syndication.) If you missed the series finale and the 45 minute clip show, now is your chance to see if all the fuss was worth it. VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, VH-1, 8:00 - 10:30 p.m., PST The music video channel VH-1 airs their VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS show. This awards program features performances by many of the top musicians in the business. DIAGNOSIS MURDER, CBS, 9:00 - 10:00 p.m., PST Dr. Sloan (Dick Van Dyke) investigates the death of a talk-show host. Regis Philbin and Cathy Lee Gifford guest star. (Regis is the one who ends up dead!) YOUNG HERCULES, FOX Family Channel, 9:00 - 11:00 p.m., PST This tv movie features young 'Herc when he was a teenager. Not as original as the series HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS, but it is a good film for children nonetheless.
