Fox Is In The Ratings Hunt

This week's column looks at some season and series premieres. It also has information on new short stories based on some of your favorite tv shows. In addition to 3news and notes2 from the world of television, we also have our two continuing features, 3This Week in TV History2 and my television viewing recommendations for the week, plus a few surprises.

With summer rapidly coming to a close, the major television networks have already begun premiering some of their new fall shows. As has been customary for several years now, the FOX television network has gotten a jump on the competition. Two of their new series have already premiered. This week they premiere two additional shows. Five of their returning shows also have their season premieres this week.

SERIES PREMIERES COSTELLO premieres on Tuesday, September 8th at 8:30 p.m. on FOX. This sitcom is set in a Boston tavern. It stars yet another stand-up comedian, this time Sue Costello. She plays a woman in her mid 20s who desperately wants to better herself - so much so that she dumps her long-term boyfriend . Dan Lauria, who did such a marvelous job as the dad on THE WONDER YEARS, plays Costello1s father.

LIVING IN CAPTIVITY premieres at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11th. This FOX sitcom was created by Diane English (MURPHY BROWN). It is about three couples who trade city life for life in the suburbs. Two of the couples are white, the other black. Based on the press information I1ve read, it seems that none of the couples like each other very much. In the season opener each couple begins to think they made a mistake by fleeing city life for 3the burbs.2

SEASON PREMIERES OF SOME OLD FAVORITES As I mentioned earlier, FOX also has a slew of returning shows that have their new season premieres this week. They are:

KING OF THE HILL, Tuesday, September 8th, 8:00 p.m., PST WORLD1S WILDEST POLICE VIDEOS, Thursday, September 10th, 8:00 p.m., PST GETTING PERSONAL, Friday, September 11th, 8:30 p.m., PST COPS, Saturday, September 12th, 8:00 p.m., PST AMERICA1S MOST WANTED, Saturday, September 12th, 9:00 p.m., PST

FAN CLUB AND TV TIE-IN INFORMATION WANTED Are you a member of an official fan club for a past or present television series? Have you published a book based on a television series, or perhaps written a book on television collectibles or a biography of a television star? If so, I1d love to hear from you.

I1d like to feature this type of information in future columns here at Suite101.Com and, if possible, use it in some of my future magazine articles as well. If you have any information about any of these topics, please contact me via e-mail at CKINGSTON@AOL.COM. A link to my e-mail can be found at the top of this column. I look forward to hearing from you.
