Two show business legends are reunited this week for the first time in nearly 40 years. For five glorious seasons, Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore played Rob and Laura Petrie on the classic comedy series "The Dick Van Dyke Show." This week they are starring in "The Gin Game." The program is part of "PBS Hollywood Presents"series.
Based on the Pulitzer-prize winning play by D.L. Coburn, "The Gin Game" focuses on the lives of two residents of a nursing home. Van Dyke plays Weller Martin, a long-time resident of the facility. Moore plays Fonsia Dorsey, a newcomer to the home. Martin and Dorsey become acquainted playing gin. The play is quite emotional and promises to tap their dramatic talents quite a bit. "The Gin Game" is one of those all too rare programs nowadays that is worth setting the VCR or TiVO for. For an in-depth look at the program, including the dates and times it will air in your area, please visit http://www.pbs.org/previews/GinGame/ Sorkin flies from "West Wing" - Adam Sorkin, the creator and writer of NBC's political drama "The West Wing" is leaving the series at the end of this season. So is veteran producer Thomas Schlamme. Sorkin has written almost all of the scripts for the series. He is largely responsible for bringing the heart and soul to the Emmy-winning drama. John Wells, producer of "ER" and "Third Watch" will assume the producer duties next season. For more information on the unexpected departure, please see http://tv.yahoo.com/news/fc?d=tmpl&cf=fc...
