4) Create a cover letter that lets the company know to which job you are applying, how you heard of the job, and highlights your experiences that fit the job description. When you send your resume and cover letter, address it to a specific person. If this person is not identified in the job announcement, visit the company's website or call it to find out who to address your e-mail.

5) Plan a search strategy. How often will you search? Will you search once a day? Once a week? What times you search? How will you search during those times? Will you just use career search sites or will you look to classified ads as well? What is your goal number of applications to be sent per week? How will you keep track of the applications you send so that you can follow-up.

6) Search, research, and apply. Search job sites such as those listed in the link area at the Telecommuting forum at Suite 101. If the site is a general job search site, use keywords such as "telecommute" in your search criteria. Telecommuting job sites allow you to search by job type. Before applying, research the company. You can do this by visiting it's site as well as the company research sites listed in the links area here at Suite 101. When you apply, provide ONLY the information the company has requested. Never send your resume as an attachment unless asked to do so. Try and utilize knowledge you have gained in your research. This will let the company know you are resourceful and serious about the job.

Only through regular searching and applying can you hope to find and obtain a work-at-home job. By following the above six steps, you will have planned and prepared a work-at-home job search that can't fail unless you quit trying.
