Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

A New Hope is the first Star Wars movie out of the trilogy. While it is not George Lucas' first movie, it was still a risky project. In 1977, Star Wars became one of the most successful sci-fi movies ever. While not the cheapest movie to make, the special effects were out of this world at the time.

In the movie, characters meet throughout the length of the film. The main characters in this movie are Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO, R2-D2, Darth Vader, Grand Moff Tarkin, and Chewbacca. Luke Skywalker is the naive farm boy that's sensitive to the force. Luke is an ace pilot, but he is lacking in battle experience. Han Solo is the hotshot pilot and smuggler from Correlia. In the Special Edition version, he has a talk with his enemy Jabba the Hut, who put a price on Han's head. Leia Organa is a princess from Alderaan, and is also a well-respected member of the Imperial Senate. She is also a leader of the Rebel Alliance secretly working against the Empire. Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known as Ben, is "Just a crazy old wizard", according to Luke's Uncle Owen. A Jedi Master, he has been hiding from the Empire on the backwater world of Tatooine. C-3PO is the golden protocol droid that Luke's Uncle purchases, along with his counterpart, R2-D2. This dynamic droid duo has been around since Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Darth Vader is the evil Dark Lord of the Sith. While still a Jedi, he uses the Force for evil. A servant of Emperor Palpatine's, he helped hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. Grand Moff Tarkin is the evil man in charge of the Death Star. Known for his quick acts of cruelty, he is not an enemy you want to have. Chewbacca is Han's huge Wookie co-pilot. Not much is known about this two-hundred and some year old biped, but he is known for his soft spots as well as his quick temper.

The rating given to this movie is PG, and that's a good rating. What you have to watch for is the occasional foul language, and there is a very considerable amount of violence. I wouldn't let anyone under eight see the Star Wars movies, mostly because of the violence in each movie and the sad scenes, like Qui-gon Jin or Luke's father dying.
