The New Addams Family is an outstandingly funny show, which also teaches a valuable lesson, never play with African Stranglers. One of the most noticeable features is the personality that's put in to the characters. An example is when the Board of Education makes Pugsley and Wednesday go to school, the kids don't just say that they can't believe that they have to go, but they say with expression and personality, and then they go downstairs to decide which explosives to use on the school.
The main characters in the series are Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Thing, Cousin It, and Lurch. Gomez is a "slightly" eccentric billionaire, and father of Wednesday and Pugsley. An expert at weapons, he can sword fight extremely well, is a dead shot, knows how to make explosives, can hit a bulls eye with just about anything pointed, from just about any range, and is also skilled in the art of archery. Morticia is Gomez' wife, and is known for her carnivorous plants. She is also skilled at making guest's as comfortable as they can be in a house with strange man-eating creatures, booby traps, land mines, and deadly children that don't take well to strangers. Wednesday is a solemn kid who enjoys putting Pugsley on the rack, dipping him in acid, and otherwise using him to test her various death-traps. She also has a doll named Marie Antoinnet, whose head she once sliced of with her toy guillotine. Pugsley is a ten- year-old boy who likes to help Uncle Fester build model rockets that are packed with nuclear warheads, heat-seekers, and targeting computers to help locate schools. While semi cowardly, he is loyal and tough (At least, he needs to be to survive Wednesday's experiments.) Uncle fester is Gomez' loyal
brother who likes to play with fire. When he's not running with scissors, lighting matches in rooms full of kerosene, TNT, and gas, or buying heavy demolitions, he's usually playing ambush with Gomez, seeing what happens when you drop a match in a big pile explosives, or helping the kids drop anvils on lurch when passes by. Grandma is everything a witch is, except that she doesn't have a big hat, and she usually has good intentions. Usually. She usually enjoys making weird spells, getting back at people who do her family wrong, and capturing cute mailmen. Thing is a sentient hand that communicates by tapping out Morse code messages. While being Gomez' lifelong buddy, he's also fond of the kids. Cousin it is a hairy creature that speaks some obscure Dialect. While not a regular on the show, he often makes guest appearances. While he doesn't quite have a knack at explosives, and for that matter, he doesn't visibly have a mouth, nose, arms, hands, legs or feet! All you can see is hair, a hat and sunglasses. Lurch is the family's tall butler, but they treat him like one of the family. He also has a liking for the kids, and tries to protect them from good influences. He will also let them paint a target on his back and use it for darts.
