The Crocodile Hunter

The Crocodile Hunter is a semi-funny, real life TV show about an Australian named Steve Irwin, and his wife Terri Irwin. Now this isn't the type of show that I'd usually do, because I wouldn't let kids under nine or ten watch it. I thought that it would be good to write about it to warn parents. Read this situation and you'll know why.

Let's say you're a kid of seven or eight. You're bored, so you're flipping through channels and you see a show called The Crocodile Hunter. You think, oh, this will be cool! So you watch it. But you get scared when Komodo dragons try to eat Steve, or when sharks come at him, intending to drive Steve away by biting him. Later that night you go to bed thinking of the show. You fall asleep and have a nightmare that Komodo dragons are trying to eat you. You see how easy it is to make a mistake about the show? The title sounds either like a joke or a hunting show, but you can't tell until you watch it.

The show is actually about a man who is the director of the Australia zoo, and with his wife they go on dangerous adventures to help wild animals in the rugged outback. Some episodes are funny, some are scary, some are just really cool. The only people that are really mentioned on the show are Steve and Terri. Steve has an amazing fondness and understanding for animals, and has a sense of humor as well as the knowledge of how to wrestle an alligator without getting killed. On July 24th, 1998 his wife gave birth to a baby girl, which they named Bindi Sue Irwin. Terri is usually the calm one, who also winds up staying on the boat while Steve is on a dive. Whenever Steve goes on an adventure, she's right there with him.

The TV rating is TV G, and that's around the right place. I wouldn't let anyone under eight at the least watch it. Nine or ten is the youngest I recommend watch it. A lot of the time, the show has crocodiles, or sharks. Sometimes there are really scary creatures, like Komodo dragons.
