Men in Black: The Series

Men In Black is a popular Saturday morning cartoon series based on the movie, Men in Black. It portrays a variety of different, strange looking aliens, both good and bad. In the show, the MIB agents use an array of weapons, from the tiny Cricket to the Arquillian Arm Cannon. The Men in Black agents differ from those in the movie. In the cartoon, several people look somewhat different than they did in the movie. For instance, K's hair is now more brownish, and J's hair occasionally looks grayish. Elle's hair is now blond, instead of brownish black. Zed is plumper, better looking, and has a deeper voice. J is partnered with K, although in the movie K went back to a normal life.

The show has many ways of capturing an audience. One way is the bizarre cast of aliens. Aliens range from small and many-legged, to humongous and gooey. Jeebs is a pawn shop owner, who specializes in weapons dealing. Frank is a sarcastic, don't-bother-me-I'm-busy type. He's so small, he has to wear a dog suit to not be noticed. Bob and his twin (whose name no human can write or say) are the operators of the tracking systems at MIB. The agents also have very extraordinary personalities. J is a rough street kid with an attitude problem. K's an agent who never cracks a smile, never laughs and is always looking after J, the "Rookie". Zed is never satisfied, and is always warning J that someday he might just kick him out of MIB.

Some of the latest episodes have been quite entertaining. I found one villain that kept popping up in several episodes. His name is Alpha, and he was once the leader of MIB, and the mentor of agent K. But he turned evil, seeking revenge on his former student and MIB. In the first episode with Alpha, he returns and steals one of the two hearts of a visiting alien. J and K try to stop him, but K wants to go in and face Alpha alone. K is captured by Alpha's replacement "Parts" as he calls the snakes, claws, and other things that enhance him. J goes in to get K back while Elle waits outside Alpha's lair. J manages to get K out, but Alpha disappears...

In the second one Alpha has returned at the same time J takes in an intern. He finds that J and the intern have met, and he isn't too pleased. The "Intern" turns out to be a Symbiote he has worked with before. When Alpha returns he gives Jeebs a list of parts he wants. Jeebs sees that a Symbiote is with J, and sets a trap. Alpha steals the Symbiote just when the Symbiote's angry mother arrives at MIB. You can watch for a rerun on KidsWB Saturday mornings at 8:30.
