Music Night

It was music's biggest night February 23, 2000. If you missed the 42nd annual Grammy awards on CBS Wednesday night, journey with me as I take a voyage down the memorable night in which I recap the most important (and scandalous) events.

The show opened with Wild Will Smith blowing up the scene with his newest single "Freakin' It". Sisquo joined Will as they performed the summer's hottest single "Wild Wild West". Complete with talented dancers and smooth moves, the boys opened the show very nicely.

The audience was then introduced to the show's host, crack-you-up Rosie O'Donald. As a teen viewer, some of her jokes were a little bit over my head but I got the just of most of them. Her political stance on gun violence was definitely made evident as she constantly bashed Puff Daddy. Rumor has it, he and Jennifer Lopez left before the show finished. Ouch!

If you haven't heard what presenter, Jennifer Lopez, wore Grammy night....where have you been? It seems like the revealing, sexy number has been the latest buzz. Check my featured links on the Welcome page to get the scoop on her dress (or lack thereof).

Other performers that night included Sting, The grooving Dixie Chicks, Whitney Houston, the infamous Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, bad boy Kid Rock and others.

So who were the artists that snagged the awards? The Dixie Chicks managed to receive an award as well as Sting. Cuite Christina Aguliera nabbed the award for best new artist. Others include Erykah Badu and The Roots, Whitney Houtson (who appeared to be very shaky through her performance and while receiving her reward) and let's not forget Carlos Santana.

All in all, it was a jam packed night. You can receive more details and photos by checking out my featured links on the welcome page.
