Cures for the Boredom Blues

"I'm bored."

How many times have you catched yourself saying that? For most teens, boredom is an inevitable part of not being allowed to go anywhere or do anything until, well......you move out of your parents' house. In this week's feature, we're tackling the word boring by pointing you in some directions and how to apply them online. Best of all, it's anything but boring.

Crank up the Volume
Revive your groove thing by blasting some good music. Different types of music evoke different types of emotions so choose your tunes wisely. To get an instant pick-me-upper go for bubbly, groovy tunes you can swing your hips and bob your head to. There's nothing like beating the boredom blues than shaking your bon bon to jiving vibes.
up your fun factor
Try playing DJ for a day by mixing your music picks off the radio onto your own tape or CD. Companies like Pizza Hut and CD Now realize that enabling their customers to make their own mixed CD's is fun to do so take it from them and mix up your own music today.

Watch This
Nothing on the TV but a bunch of reruns? Then head thee to thy nearest video store and stock up. Movies like Deep Blue Sea, American Pie, Big Daddy and others are more than likely sitting on the shelves just waiting to be watched. Renting a movie is a great source of entertainment because it beats the boredom blues by making your laugh, cry or by keeping you on the edge of your seat through killer thrillers.
up the fun factor
Grab your pop's video cam, a few friends and getting rolling. Making your own homemade video is twice the fun (not to mention much cheaper). A cheesy plot, bad actors, and next to nothing special effects might not crank out the next blockbuster hit but you can guarantee lots of laughs while filming your masterpiece.

Read On
If you think this world is a drag, try escaping to another one by reading a book. Yeah, yeah. Sounds like something your mother would say, right? There are many authors out there like Caroline B. Cooney, Francesca Lia Block and others that are making page turners especially for teens. From an adventure in Eastern Asia to the inside life of a football player, you can escape into a world you'd otherwise not have the opportunity to travel to through good 'ol books. Scan your local book stores like Barnes and Nobles and Walden Books for reads that would most interest you or visit stores online to order a copy of any book imaginable.
