The whole world is going wireless. Cell phones are everywhere. Has anyone seen "That 80's Show?" If you watch the FOX network for even ten minutes you have to have seen the "I am SO not going to the prom with you" commerical. I remember those HUGE mobile phones. Those phones allowed doctors on call to have a life. Who else could afford them? High dollar salesmen, rich people, and doctors were the people who had mobile phones. I remember once someone said that one day the cell phone would replace the phones that are wired into the wall, and that they would be very common. Everyone would have one. Then, I could not see it.
Now - almost everyone DOES have a cell phone. Regular phones don't really look like they are going anywhere yet. We are just more connected than we ever were. People now REALLY yell at me when they can't get me at home or on my cell. I even have my call notes set up so when people leave me a message it gets sent to my cell phone. This helps when you are trying to find a job. Many cell phones do more than just call people. Some of them can even surf the Internet. Be careful though - it is much more expensive to connect to the internet from your cell phone. My cell phone is also my phone book. When someone tells me to call them I add their number to my phonebook in my cell phone. I used to lose little scraps of paper. Business cards are not that easy to keep up with. My phone also has a place to record email addresses. Maybe one day I will get in the habit of using that little feature too. I set my Nokia to display the person's name and phone number. It's in the phone book under options. Select name+number. That way I see not only the name, but also the number. I can dial the number I find on my less expensive 'land line.' I also can use my phone as an alarm clock. It even has a "snooze" setting. So.....when you travel - or go somewhere - or just need 3 or 4 alarm clocks to make you get up.....you can use your cell phone. My daughter and I text message now and then - she likes that - but you gotta get the hang of using your number pad to type out messages. The little up arrow will actually make your leeters LOWER case. I personally do not like all caps - so all my names in my phone book are upper and lower case like they are supposed to be. Not doing all caps in a text message can get to be a pain though. Go To Page: 1 2
