How much technology do you need? The camera and the laptop do have other considerations. It has proven to be economically sound to try to get as much of the newest technology as you can afford on purchases of this nature. Technology development is moving at lightening speed. It was only a few years ago that a 5 gig hard drive sounded HUGE! Now it can barely hold what I need on it. [Oh dear - I left that one off my list - a new hard drive for my desktop computer.] The best digital photo size was 3.3 Million pixel until Minolta came out with the Dimage 7 that has the 5.2 Million pixel size capability. Who knows - by the time I can afford it they may have something larger available. Consider what you are doing with your technology. If I was just taking snap shots of family a sharper camera would be nice, but it may not be necessary. I use my camera like a painter uses the brushes and a canvas. I love taking photos a form of self expression and creativity. Consequently my computer has to be able to run programs that are heavy on graphics. My photos are usually taken at the largest setting. Scanned images are saved in a format that takes a lot of room to store. High quality images are very important to me. I am a very creative visual artist. If a person is into computer gaming or business applications, their needs are going to be different than mine. Before you shop to BUY make a list of what you want your new technology product to do. Take that list to more than one sales professional and ask for suggestions. Shop around for prices and options before you settle on something. In closing, stop to consider when making purchases of this type it is best to try to get the latest and the most recent that you can afford. If you do this your technology is not unusable in just a couple of years. I limp along with my old laptop that weighs a ton, my digital camera that doesn't take very sharp photos most of the time, and the rest of my old technology because I don't want to throw money at something that will be out of date too soon. I'm holding out for something that will at least be IN the technology curve if not ahead of it. So
