Remember in Learning AOL - In Depth Series of Lessons and AOL Email - Beginner Lessons I said that I was going to do a whole series on AOL lessons? Well they will now continue, after a brief hair pulling session I've finally gotten things worked out again.
Let me tell you what happened. We had two AOL accounts. We also have an MSN account and a cable connection. We were spending a rather large chunk of change on ISP services and we didn't need them all. Or did we??? We decided that we would eliminate my AOL account. I have a contract for MSN thanks to a rebate for a computer, so we are stuck with it for another year. We don't have to use it, we just have to pay for it. The husband isn't interested in learning another ISP system. He likes his AOL. It's efficient and most importantly, he can figure it out because it's so easy to understand. I love my cable connection. It's about light years faster than a dial up. It's always connected. I can check my email in seconds instead of minutes. Yes I am now spoiled rotten with my cable connection. We finally decided we would get rid of the AOL on my computer. We had actually closed the account some time ago so all I had to do was uninstall it. I went to the Control Panel and proceeded to do what I was supposed to do to uninstall AOL. The only problem is that it left behind files that contained information from the old AOL account. When I tried to download the new AOL it kept using all the old information. I didn't want it to use the old information I wanted it to use the information for a different account. I finally deleted those files that were holding things from the old account and tried again. I'm sure there is a better and easier way but it took several tries before I figured this one out. It was interesting because I learned something new. I like the new AOL 7.0. It looks like the new Welcome board is bigger and it appears to be more clear. I love the new Buddy List icons. There are 195 of them, including Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera and lots more. So after a small interuption in service the AOL series will now continue.
