Online Cards and Kids

Do your kids like to receive cards in the mail? Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and friends who live far away send kids cards to let them know they are thinking of them. My parents send my kids cards on every holiday even though live right here in the same town. My kids start looking for those cards in the mail weeks before birthdays and holidays. Their little faces light up when they get special mail.

That joy that my kids experience when they get cards has turned into something they like to do for other people. The problem is that I can't always afford all the cards they want to send or I can't get out to the store to pick one up right when they feel like sending a card. Our solution, online cards.

When I first taught my kids how to get online and set up their email addresses I noticed that they got disappointed when they didn't have email. Being the kind of parent who spoils her children rotten (I know, I know, I should be ashamed of myself, and I am a little) I wanted to come up with a way to make them smile when they checked their email. Now I couldn't really sit down and write some big long email. For goodness sakes, I just saw them a few hours ago, they know as much about what's going on in our household as I do so I decided the best thing to do was send online cards.

I went to Blue Mountain.com. Blue Mountain is in my opinion, the place for online cards. If you need an online card for any occasion, Blue Mountain has it. They have a great selection of cards just for kids too.

My kids really enjoyed the online cards. They could open their email and have something fun and exciting waiting for them. Something that they knew Mom had sat down and picked just for them to make them smile and let them know how much I love them.

Well they began to catch the card fever. They began going over to Blue Mountain and sending cards of their own. Anyone who had an email address and meant something to my kids more than likely got an online card on a weekly basis.

The first couple of times that they had to fill out the forms to send an online card they needed a little help. The biggest thing was helping them to fill out the email addresses completely. They uses AOL and when they send AOL mail to other AOL users they just had to enter the screenname. They had a little trouble getting the hang of writing out the "@aol.com" or "@home.com", etc. Once they had done it a few times they got the hang of it and didn't have any trouble after that.
