How I Turned An Interest Into An Internet Product I Could Sell

Jan 12, 2001 - © Georgie Farmer,

another new computer skill. Uh oh! Again, I felt intimidated. But, this time, it was different. I sat at the computer with a totally different outlook. I knew that once I got CONFIDENCE in whatever program I was using, it would be easy.

I went on to learn many new computer programs: Windows Explorer (to navigate the Internet), Home Site (to create web pages), Paint Shop Pro (to create graphics), WS FTP (to upload my web pages to the web) and more. And, guess what? All these computer programs had similar features to Microsoft Word AND, how wonderful, an Undo button. Good old Microsoft Word. Not just a great program in itself, but a stepping stone to other computer programs.

One day, I was trying to create a particular graphic for my web pages and couldn't find what I wanted to do in the manual. A friend suggested that I search the Internet for this information. I not only found the information, but I found my ideal way of learning a new computer skill.

It was a step-by-simple step tutorial. I didn't have to THINK or work anything out, I just followed the steps blindly. I didn't have a CLUE what I was doing. But, when I finished, there was this lovely graphic. WOW. Look what I did! I got an immediate thrill. I, then, went back over each step and looked carefully at what I had actually done. Ah ha, so that's what this tool is for and that's how I do that! I learned more in the 15 minutes it took me to do this tutorial than hours ploughing through a manual!

This HAS to be the best way to learn a new computer skill. Blindly follow step-by-simple-step instructions and see instant results. This gives you a thrill. Then, go back over the steps with CONFIDENCE and learn. Now, I knew exactly what I was going to do next. Create step-by-simple step tutorials like this and sell them on my web site. And that's exactly what I have done. I call them Nail It Now Tutorials.

My web site, http://www.nailitnow.com.au features not only my typing tutor but Microsoft Word Tutorial 1: "Getting Started - CONFIDENCE Builder" (which includes my simple letter). And I have nearly finished Microsoft Word Tutorial 2: "Microsoft Word is Easy When You Know How". Microsoft Word Tutorial 1 is a FREE tutorial to give my web site visitors a "taste"
